Local Children’s Illustrator and Author Peter Catalanotto Wows Families at
Fred Beans Family of Dealerships’
Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day®
It isn’t easy to keep close to 100 youngsters and their adults engaged and entertained for nearly an hour. But Peter Catalanotto, award-winning local children’s author and illustrator, did it easily. He spoke enthusiastically about his work as a professional artist and writer, about creating art—or anything you feel passionate about—and how he gets his ideas.

The program was part of Take Our Daughters And Sons to Work Day® at Fred Beans Family of Dealerships in Doylestown, held April 26. For the tenth year, the Beans family invited the youngsters who came to work with their adults to come over to the Ford store for a catered lunch and crafts. This year, the event included the presentation and one of Catalanotto’s books, inscribed by the author.

Peter Catalanotto, left, demonstrates drawing and storytelling techniques while his audience sketches and listens.
Catalanotto has written and illustrated such beloved children’s books as Dylan’s Day Out, Mr. Mumble, Christmas Always and Matthew’s ABC. A popular presenter for school programs, he passionately encourages young people to think of themselves as artists, even if they aren’t grown up and aren’t getting paid for their work. “If you draw, you are an artist now.”
Hailey Brown, 9, of Lansdale with her dad, Matt Brown, IT administrator
He told them to use the two words writers love: “what” and “if.” “What if” something in your life happened a little differently? How could you use that to make a story more interesting for others?
Artist Tricia Shepard, 5, of Doylestown, is the daughter of Jim Shepard, Saturn parts manager.
“Try new things, new ideas, new techniques,” he urged his listeners. Catalanotto takes many of his stories and beautiful watercolor illustrations from his own life, tapping memories from the time he was little and observations of his interaction with his own daughter over her lifetime.
Jim Duncan, Fred Beans Parts Warehouse, of Doylestown and his 11-year-old twins, Nick and Jake

2007 Lincoln MKZ

The new Lincoln MKZ for 2007 is not a Zephyr. Oh, sure, it has a lot in common with the 2006 Zephyr—that “Z” is a dead give-away—but slip inside. What you see there and what you experience as you drive away will settle it once and for all.  The Lincoln MKZ is a mid-size luxury car that replaces the Zephyr. Along with a modified waterfall grill and other changes, Lincoln increased the Zephyr’s engine size and power output, remade the interior with a lot more flash and substance, added an intelligent AWD option and gave it a new name.  And for prices starting at
$29,890 MSRP, you can get into Lincoln luxury, power and great handling without breaking the bank.

Handles well, feels great!
The MKZ, with standard 6-speed automatic transmission, features a more efficient 3.5-liter Duratec V6 that provides 263hp and 249-foot-pounds of torque. The suspension is independent all around with a short/long arm (SLA) design in front and multilink setup with coilover shock absorbers in the rear.  Okay, that’s the business end of this Lincoln. But as a therapist might say, “How do you feel about it?” Well, we feel very good about the MKZ.  “It’s a great car, a good combination of sport and luxury that really performs,” says Kurt Ruffing, sales manager at Fred Beans. “It handles beautifully, has great acceleration, and its interior won design awards—it’s really beautiful.”

Beauty and comfort
Outside, the MKZ is classic Lincoln, with distinctive styling that’s refined for a fresh new audience. Inside, its nimble handling and comfort features make short work of long journeys and tedious commutes. On all your jaunts, the minutes spent enjoying MKZ’s quiet, relaxing ride pass almost too quickly between your door and your destination.  How so? Listen to this: the optional 600-watt THX® sound system with 14 speakers, perfect for the MKZ’s quiet interior. Available MP3 audio input jack and factory-installed SIRIUS satellite radio. Available DVD-based navigation system with a sharp 6.5-inch screen and text-to-speech technology.  Surround yourself with this: white electro-luminescent and LED lighting.  Heated and cooled seats.  Ebony, figured maple or satin nickel trim.  Real leather. A spacious cabin that allows three feet of legroom in the back, plus the largest trunk in its class.  If you’re ready to break into classic Lincoln luxury and all that comes with it, you owe it to yourself to check out the MKZ.

Through January 2, Lincoln is offering the 2007 MKZ as a $397-a-month "sign and drive": that's no security, no down, no first payment!
